Joelle spent the first 30 years of her career in nonprofit administration, first as PR Director for the Cincinnati Opera then as Assistant Director of Enjoy the Arts/START. After spending three years in Oxford, England for her husband’s job (and acquiring a Certificate in Art History and Creative Writing at Oxford University), she spent five years as Event Coordinator for the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.
By the time she turned 50, her health had declined to a point where she was in severe pain – back, knees, ankles and wrists – from arthritis, tendonitis, and plantar fasciitis. She had ballooned to 260 pounds, wasn’t exercising regularly or eating right. After her second pre-diabetic diagnosis, enough was enough. She needed to find a way to get and stay healthy. She quit her job, started eating right and exercising, went back to school and received an Associate’s Degree in Exercise Science as well as a 300-hour Foundational Yoga Teacher Training certificate. She is also a Corrective Exercise specialist.
Fueled by a passion for helping others live their best lives through fitness, Joelle is honored and thrilled to be part of the Parkinson Community Fitness and Coors Core Fitness Family. She lives in Columbia Tusculum with her husband Sean and their son Connor. She enjoys working out, walking, hiking, cycling, reading, watching quality television and regularly dog sits for friends and family.
Parkinson Community Fitness (PCF) is a non-profit, 501c3.
