April began practicing yoga at the age of 45. She has studied Iyengar, Hatha, Kundalini, Yin, Yoga Nidra, Chair Yoga, Let Your Yoga Dance and Yoga for Kids, beginning her journey in Chicago and returning to Cincinnati 19 years ago.
April has worked in the health care field for the past 43 years as an LPN, specializing in geriatric care. She is also certified as a Holistic Nutrition Lifestyle Coach. April did her Certified 200 hr. Yoga Teacher Training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
She completed a 25 hr. Yoga Teacher Certification in Chair Yoga and a 100 hr. Yoga Teacher Certification in Let Your Yoga Dance at Kripalu. She recently completed a 30 hr. Yin Yoga Teacher Training at You Do Yoga and her students range in age from 3 to 100. She promotes health and wellness through the practice of yoga as therapy, hoping to demonstrate to people of all ages, and with various physical limitations, that yoga movement, breath work and meditation can improve health as well as reverse the aging process. “You’re never too young or too old to begin your practice.”
April currently teaches weekly Chair Yoga classes at Twin Lakes, the Blue Ash Rec Center, St. Margaret Hall, StoneBridge at Winton Woods, St. Clement, St. John the Baptist, Bridgeway Pointe and Parkinson Community Fitness. These classes focus on all levels of students as well as those with Parkinsons and other special challenges and needs. Her private practice “Yoga on the Go” brings classes to Parkinson Support & Wellness forums, workshops and seminars. She also works with Creative Aging, bringing yoga to Seniors throughout the area.
She teaches weekly Hatha Yoga mat classes at LA Fitness and Kids Yoga at the Montessori Academy of Cincinnati as well as private classes in her 3rd floor Yoga Studio.
Also a professional singer, April enjoys chanting with Kirtan.
